Recently Ken and I have been experimenting with solid foods on Ash. It's almost as though we take one step forward only to take two steps back. We've tried rice cereal (one milk product, then one without), bananas, carrots, apples & honeydew melon. And out of all that, we've only been able to stick to apples, carrots and melon. He's broken out into hives, and recently has developed a rash covering his back, which we thought was calming down, but now has started to move to his tummy. So back to the doctor we go... We've been patiently waiting for an appointment to see an allergist, but after the second breakout that doesn't seem to be getting better quick enough, I'm afraid I'm going to have to turn "momma lion" on the doctors in order to get Ash in to receive the appropriate testing. But in the thick of all this, Ken tries to get me to look at the positive, "At least it's only a minor reaction," or "he's a great kid! You wouldn't even know he's having a reaction," or "babe, he's going to be fine!" After numerous attempts to calm me down, all I have to do is look at his adoreable little face gobbling up carrots to know that we'll figure all this out in due time. Yes folks, I've definately become my mother!

Lindsay's Baptism
On April 11th, 2010 our lovely niece Lindsay was baptized. And to add to the wonderful festivities, Michelle and Jeff bestowed the honor of Godparents to Ken and I! It was a lovely day. The ceremony was quiet and smooth. The priest was funny and amusing, the spread Michelle prepared was delicious and bountiful, and the company was great! All in all a memorable day. Congrats Lindsay!!!
Surprise Gramma!!
A few weeks back Michelle and I drove out to Stonewall to visit mom on her lunch hour. We contrived a plan to put Ash and Lindsay in the sink and hide around the corner to watch mom's reaction to her cute little sink grand-babies. Unfortunately, Gramma was too smart and snuck around the corner and shocked Michelle and I instead! "What are you doing?" mom asked with a silly sneer in her voice... After laughing off our ridiculousness, we revealed the true surprise to mom which was quickly followed by her reaction, "Oooooooooo! Look at you twoooooo!!!" Nice work mom!
A Walk a Day, Melts the Baby Fat Away!
Yes, I know. It's been ages since I've blogged. Bare with me, I do try. However, I've been receiving complaints from a few family members, which will remain un-named, so here you go peeps with the updates of the Malczewski comings and goings.
Michelle and I have taken up walking around each others neighborhoods soaking in the wonderful weather. Some days are warmer than others but the important thing is that we are getting out there and giving the babies some fresh air. And the absolute BEST part is that my baby weight is melting away. I will no longer be the whale of the past. And yes, I KNOW I WAS PREGNANT!!! It doesn't mean being fat is easier because of that fact. I'm just lucky to have such a wonderful sister that gets me pounding the pavement day after day!

Time Flies
Can you believe that these photos were taken only 1 ½ months apart? Ash and Lindsay are growing so fast I can hardly believe it!!! Next thing you know, they’ll be walking & talking, and getting themselves into all sorts of trouble. Not like Michelle and I…we were complete angels!

911! We Have An Emergency!!!
Boy's Best Friend
Ken and I always knew that Suki would be a great fit for the family we wanted to have. When she was a puppy, we tugged on her ears, played with her paws, pulled on her tail, and shoved our hands in her mouth – all in the attempt to prepare her for a curious little munchkin. The minute I was pregnant, I knew she would be protective and motherly towards my growing baby. When I was in my last month of pregnancy, Suki was laying on my tummy enjoying cuddle time, only to be interrupted by a swift kick in the head by the growing bump in my abdomen. She swiftly lifted her head and gave my tummy a shove back with her snout, almost as if to keep it in line, then settled back in to her nook on my lap. When we brought Ash home from the hospital, poor Suki felt a little neglected. But in a short time she got up close and personal with Ash. First when he was cozy in his swing, then later while he was bouncing around in his jolly jumper. That was the day the budding relationship between boy and beast began…
Go Yankees!!!
Well daddy may be a football fan, but mommy is a baseball fan all the way! So I thought Ash should experience what it’s like to cheer for a winning team! The night Ash was born, the New York Yankees won game 3 against the Phillies in the World Series. I took this as an omen that they were destined to win it all. And of course, they did!!! To celebrate such an event, I decided to buy Ash his very own Yankees sleeper. It was almost like it was made especially for him! I do believe another Yankees fan has been born…GO YANKEES!!!!

The Comparison
When Ash was born, everyone I talked to said, "Ooooo, he's a spitting image of Ken!!!" In their defense I did agree with them. But after some time I decided to look back on pictures of Ken and my childhood. To my surprise, I noticed an alarming similarity between Ash's baby photos and mine! Ok, so he obviously has inherited the Ashdown hair gene (sorry about that little guy), and equally as obvious, the Malczewski cheeks. So lets hear your opinion. Ken is on the left, and I (Sam) am on the right. Who do you think Ash looks like?
He's Getting Stronger!
Ash has been working very hard to get stronger each day. He's been doing about 5-10 sit-ups a day with mommy's help to make his neck stronger. He's also been doing push-ups and has now mastered sitting up while leaning against a pillow. Ken and I have even ventured as far as the Jolly Jumper (expect that post to appear shortly).
He's been growing at mach speed, he's already reached 16lbs!!!! Which by the way means he's already bigger than cousin Lindsay at a weight of 14lbs. I'm told this is because he's a boy, and boys grow bigger at a more rapid rate than girls. He's made the transfer into size 3 diapers, and is wearing sleepers meant for 6 month old babies! Aunty Michelle looked it up and apparently he's in the 90 percentile range of weight. No fair, my baby is growing up WAY to fast!!!

Purple Pride!
Ash had his first taste of being a football fan on January 17th, 2010 while watching the Minnesota Vikings beat the pants off the Dallas Cowboys 34 to 3 to win the divisional title! Ken was so proud he thought he'd make it a tradition to dress each other up in their Minnesota wears and show off their Purple Pride.
Unfortunately, on January 24th, 2010 during the conference final, the Vikings lost by a mere field goal with an ending score of 28 to 31. Fumble after fumble inevidably was the Vikings demise. That didn't let Ash's spirit get dampened though..... I can't say the same for Ken however, he pouted for the next three days.
