
Ken and I always knew that Suki would be a great fit for the family we wanted to have. When she was a puppy, we tugged on her ears, played with her paws, pulled on her tail, and shoved our hands in her mouth – all in the attempt to prepare her for a curious little munchkin. The minute I was pregnant, I knew she would be protective and motherly towards my growing baby. When I was in my last month of pregnancy, Suki was laying on my tummy enjoying cuddle time, only to be interrupted by a swift kick in the head by the growing bump in my abdomen. She swiftly lifted her head and gave my tummy a shove back with her snout, almost as if to keep it in line, then settled back in to her nook on my lap. When we brought Ash home from the hospital, poor Suki felt a little neglected. But in a short time she got up close and personal with Ash. First when he was cozy in his swing, then later while he was bouncing around in his jolly jumper. That was the day the budding relationship between boy and beast began…
